Seen the TSD MDK of the late 40s or 50s? Do they look anything at all alike? No... He said no problem as long as you only wear them on the carpet while you train, ie dont wear them outside. The only reason I say this is perhaps if you find a shoe that helps you train, then maybe your instructor will let you train in them as long as you dont wear them outside. I dont know too much about Tang Soo DO or Hwarang Do, but if they are anything like Kuksool, I dont see any reasons why you couldnt wear shoes, or atleast wrestling shoes. ____________________________________________________________________________________ Sucker-punch spam with award-winning protection. I met him in 1963 when he visited New York. He was most clearly Anti-Japanese but he did say through his interpreter, that martial arts sees itself in some form all over the world and has at least some vague similarity to all other arts. He did use the term Korean Karate but Moo Duk kwan was emphatically independent from all other arts. The only direct comment he made to me was when I was striking the Makewara, he said, " boy..little by little!" No hard"!!!! This peaked his interest but the martial artist refused to train him. Hwang Kee claims he then positioned himself (in another house, hill etc.) to observe the man practice. There is more than one account as to how much if any the man actually instructed Hwang Kee. S.C. Riggs Ray wrote: > Yang. However I believe his foundation was Tae Kyun which is Korean. Again, a quick glance lets us know where the student should be at material wise. It also acts as a motivator for the student. For new students, it helps them get prepped for the formal testing with the with the informal in class striping. If they so desire, black belts use stripes for dahn ranking.
