For some reason I knew there is/was connection but I can't really point who and when the double stick had been originated. Since you said "It was later stated incorrectly, that this material was Korean stickfighting", so there must be a real connection to this link here http://www.karateforkids.ca/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=36 &Itemid=42. But the story in this link was short nothing much any to reconcile. If you have any links to read on, I appreciate your help. Thanks again. But the head of Pro-Tech came out for a weekend and learned much of what is the ATA stick curricullum from Grandmaster Mike Inay, of Inayan Eskrima. I was personally their and helped in the teaching. I want to say his name was GK Lee but this was 93 or 94 so I don't remember for sure. It was later stated incorrectly, that this material was Korean stickfighting. He was a member of Chung Do Kwan and taught at Osan Air Force Base before coming to the US. During the early 60's he was a member of Son Duk Son's organization and visited our club in Evansville IN on a number of occasions. On at least one occasion he was in my home, so I knew him way back when. During that time H.U.L. I am positive did not teach a double stick form. This is not something that was part of the Chung Do Kwan curriculum taught at that time. I would be willing to bet this was something added to the ATA as interest in Arnis or Escrima became more popular. Rick Clark -----Original Message----- From: Cayson, Clint [mailto:CCayson@luxuryresorts.com] Greetings to all! I just have few questions; does anybody know the history of bahng mahng ee or double stick form? The person who introduced the curriculum to ATA? Does it have transitional applications? Thanks in advance. Supposedly, he was to be the poster boy for ITF and under the tutelage/wing of Master Kang (now Grand Master Kang still living in NY). The ITF also doesn't have weapons such as the short sticks so it was after that. Seems like it was first introduced in the early 90's. At first Protech was an added bonus but later became a requirement.
