What you wrote should be submitted to Black Belt Mag. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ From:  "Stovall, Craig" Reply-To:  the_dojang@martialartsresource.net To:   Subject:  RE: [The_Dojang] Interesting Link Date:  Tue, 14 Aug 2007 13:11:56 -0500 MIME-Version:  1.0 Received:  from rimmon.cisto.com ([69.10.135.37]) by bay0-mc3-f17.bay0.hotmail.com with Microsoft SMTPSVC(6.0.3790.2668); Tue, 14 Aug 2007 13:56:03 -0700 Received:  (qmail 19620 invoked from network); 14 Aug 2007 19:44:01 -0000 Received:  from unknown (HELO rimmon.cisto.com) (127.0.0.1) by 0 with SMTP; 14 Aug 2007 19:44:01 -0000 Received:  (qmail 7526 invoked from network); 14 Aug 2007 17:00:20 -0000 Received:  from unknown (HELO mail.nucorar.com) (64.233.133.211) by 0 with SMTP; 14 Aug 2007 17:00:20 -0000 Received:  from mail pickup service by mail.nucorar.com with Microsoft SMTPSVC; Tue, 14 Aug 2007 13:11:58 -0500 ><<Stovall would write. > > > > > > > >http://ejmas.com/jalt/jaltart_elmore_0402.htm > > > > > > > >Thomas Gordon>>> > > > > > >I'm going to take that as a compliment in spite of the fact that I can't >stand Phil Elmore.  LOL!!! > > > >P.S., I could write better...hehehehehe!!! >_______________________________________________ >The_Dojang mailing list, 2,200 members >The_Dojang@martialartsresource.net >Copyright 1994-2007: Ray Terry and Martial Arts Resource >Standard disclaimers apply >Subscribe or Unsubscribe: http://the-dojang.net ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Booking a flight? Well, that may be a bit of an embellishment. :) There's: ITF-C ran by General Choi's son ITF-NK which General Choi arguably left the reigns of ITF (Grand Master Rhee is the ranking person) ITF-V which has apparently won the rights to ITF in the world courts Other organizations: USTF ran by Grand Master Sereff (Promoted to ninth degree by General Choi and the first American) KATU/UITF ran by Grand Master Hwang (Promoted to ninth degree the same day Grand Master Sereff was.) There are only a handful of people promoted to ninth degree by General Choi. Grand Master Sereff split off from ITF when the General died because of the heir apparent. Grand Master Hwang followed suit shortly thereafter and for similar reasons. Grand Master Sereff kept his original organization with USTF as did Grand Master Hwang but wanted to make KATU more global and try to rejoin the ITF's. He's working towards that but it's a very slow process and he may find it impossible. The website is www.Unified-ITF.com There are numerous other organizations that claim to be "Chang Hun" or "like ITF." Thomas Gordon Florida > I get the three ITFs confused. Permitted Techniques and Areas 2. Permitted Areas 1) Trunk : Attack by fist and foot techniques to all areas covered by the trunk protector are permitted. However, such attacks shall not be made to the spine; the spine area is not considered a legitimate target and so, the portion of the trunk protector covering the spine is not a scoring area. From the Olympic Qualification Tournament in Manchester, England in September, the area covering the spine will white and the scoring area will be limited to the red or blue colored areas of the body protector. 2) Face : The area of the face excluding the back of the head, and attack by foot techniques only is permitted: As it is practically impossible to exclude contact to the back of the head, the entire area of the head and neck above the collar bones will be recognized as the scoring area. Article 14. Prohibited Acts and Penalties 5. Prohibited acts (Kyong-go) a. Crossing the boundary line: When both feet of a competitor cross the boundary line for whatever reason (except being pushed with the hand or shoulder of the opponent) a "kyong-go" must be given. A "kyong-go" must be given every time both feet of a competitor cross the boundary line and no "joo-eui" is to be given. c. Falling down: In every instance of international falling, a "kyong-go" will be given without the use of "joo-eui." Falling unavoidably during an exchange of technique is not to be punished. d. Avoiding the match: The use of an inactivity clock will be implemented. After the declaration of "shi-jak" or "kye-seok," the referee with give the competitors approximately 5 seconds to set themselves before giving a signal that will activate the inactivity clock. From that point, the competitors will have 10 seconds to initiate an attack or be issued a "kyong-go." If there is equal inactivity on both sides, each competitor will be given a "kyong-go" but if one competitor is judged to be more passive than the other, that person shall receive the warning. J. Uttering undesirable remarks or any misconduct on the part of a competitor or coach: Including in Article 14 or the Competition Rules and regulations are the following stipulations: Objectives in establishing the prohibited acts and penalties; (1) To protect the contestant (2) To ensure fair contest management (3) To encourage appropriate or ideal techniques In line with these objectives, the act of intentionally lifting the knee to block the opponent's attack or interfere with their technique is to be punished with "kyong-go" as an undesirable act. ===================================================== The undersigned have met on the occasion of the WTF International Referee Training Camp for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games on July 29 ~ Aug. 4, 2007, in Korea and through healthy discussions; they have decided that the above detailed explanation of the Competition Rules & Interpretations would be clear and precise.
