That being said, I realize that real world survival has three levels: the physical confrontation, the criminal justice system, and finally, the civil courts. Over the years, I have been fortunate to avoid a number of potentially physical altercations working inner city security jobs, and otherwise. I have always thought that if a situation resulted in physical violence, everything else being equal, my actions would be more defensible in the criminal justice AND civil court systems if I used open hands rather than a closed fist. The weasel and his physician will not know the difference, or care, but being able to tell a court, 'I never even made a fist, your Honor' , would go a long way toward showing peaceful v. evil intent. I would appreciate hearing your thoughts and experiences in this area. pil seung, Don Ross --__--__-- Message: 2 From: "Dennis Overall" To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Subject: RE: [The_Dojang] anatomy pics Date: Sun, 09 Sep 2007 18:04:14 -0500 Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net You may consider going to a library and checking out a book on human anatomy, human physiology, and kinesiology.  If you live near a university you may also audit a class on the three mentioned subjects for information.  You may also try your luck at an online search for the information you desire. A couple of my observations have been:  The nervous system follows the blood and a lot of nerve points are at various intersections where muscle, nerve, and blood vessals meet. That can be in dilfferent combinations whereas the blood and electrical impulse can be intercepted by pressure or sudden force causing a disruption of flow to the tissues involved. I am by no means an expert on the subject, but I have studied the subjects mentioned in this mailing.  Oh...if you can acquire an accupuncture chart and study it, you may gain some knowledge as well, this may even be your best bet yet.  good luck on your quest.       -------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Share your special parenting moments! --__--__-- Message: 3 Date: Mon, 10 Sep 2007 05:20:49 -0400 From: "Burdick, Dakin Robert" To: Subject: [The_Dojang] Moving to East Lansing Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Hi All, I'll be moving to East Lansing, Michigan, next month. Thomas Lee Innerebner, 50, faces 15 sex-crime charges. According to police, he has been a taekwondo instructor for 12 years and was the sole proprietor of a taekwondo teaching business. The alleged assaults came to light in May, when two girls, aged seven and eight, came forward with complaints about their taekwondo instructor. A few months later, a third girl also raised allegations against him. Police believe there may be other young victims. Det. Malcolm Allan, from the city police Zebra Child Protection Centre, said publicity about the case may help police find out if other children have similar allegations. "Hopefully by this, they will have the courage to come forward," he said. Innerebner has been charged with five counts each of sexual assault, sexual interference and sexual exploitation. Two of the girls were allegedly touched sexually during their taekwondo classes, which were attended by a total of about 12 students. The classes were held at Meadowlark and Elmwood elementary schools. The third girl is alleged to have been sexually touched in a home. The charges have shocked and angered members of Edmonton's taekwondo community. "It's a slap in the face to all of the other instructors," said Mel Zilkowsky, an instructor at the Elite Taekwondo school. Zilkowsky noted that anyone studying for a black belt at his taekwondo school is required to go through a criminal background check before receiving the designation. Norm Moreland of Tiger Studios Taekwondo in Leduc said the same rule applies to instructors hired by his academy. Moreland urged parents to check the backgrounds of instructors, especially since there are few regulations for martial arts instructors in Canada. "It's pretty much buyer beware. You really need to look around," Moreland said. Edmonton Public Schools, like other school districts, does not screen groups that rent space in schools, a spokeswoman for the board said. Jane Farrell said organizations asking to use space apply through a centralized City of Edmonton booking system. The onus for screening is on the organizations using space, she said. "By the time the organization comes to us, the screening is done." --__--__-- _______________________________________________ The_Dojang mailing list The_Dojang@martialartsresource.net http://martialartsresource.net/mailman/listinfo/the_dojang Subscribe or Unsubscribe: http://the-dojang.net Old digest issues @ ftp://ftp.martialartsresource.com/pub/the_dojang Copyright 1994-2007: Ray Terry and http://MartialArtsResource.com Standard disclaimers apply.
