The reasons are many starting with reduced risk of injury to the officer followed closely by the public perception of the closed fist being perceived as a more agressive act than the open hand. I am looking at going back into law enforcement and 36 years of front and reverse punches will be hard to discontinue in favor of open hand techniques. S.C. Just hope they don't find the video (http://www.ifilm.com/video/2757542) of reporter John Stossel getting open hand slapped by wrestler David "Dr. D" Schultz. :) But, yes, in general it is very effective and perhaps even safer, for a number of reasons, to use open hand techniques against an attacker. Due to some unforseen circumstances Ray has missed the last couple of seminars, so it was good to reconnect. Due to the extreme heat (real or imagined), the number of attendees was limited to about 170, but a great time was had by all. Thanx to all who braved our MS summer for good training, good food and good friends, and I look forward to seeing everyone at a time of the year when our heat is a welcome relief from the crappy cold weather experienced by almost everyone else during the end of February or beginning of March, which is why this Yankee is still here after 37 years. I will NEVER be THAT cold again!....Right Jere? --__--__-- Message: 4 From: "V. Trust me, it was great to be seen. As usual, I learned a ton and had a big time at the semi-annual Jackson event. Jere, Rich, Kat, Mac, Charles, Joe, Holcombe, Perry, Don, Anthony, (who am I leaving out?), and of course GM West and ALL his mutants, it was great to see all y'all again. I'm already starting to save my dimes for the 28th Int'l...
