Put all of the certificates for me and my boy in nice plastic sheets and in binders. Already realized how much stuff I cant find. It was tons of fun and from now on will be much better for looking back on. Aside from great training and learning this one thing will also make our training a little bit more fun. Thanks again for a great training and a fantastic idea. Robert Howard (37), formally of Santry and now living in Stoneybatter, was awarded his 7th degree black belt last Sunday week when he tested for his Masters in England under the International Taekwondo Federation's most senior examiner, Grandmaster Ki Ha Rhee (9th degree). It was a historic double for Robert, as himself and his father, Robert Snr, became the only father and son to both hold the title of Master. Robert Snr is an 8th degree black belt in the Korean martial art of Taekwondo and is one of Europe's top practitioners of the art. In an excellent martial arts display, Robert Jnr broke multiple boards while flying in the air, split timber with his fingertips and smashed tiles with his wrists. "I was so happy that everything went according to plan," an emotional Robert said afterwards. "I've been training hard for this grading since January. "I could feel the nerves before the exam, but when I stepped onto the floor, I felt relaxed and everything clicked into place‚" he added. Robert Snr and Jnr have both represented Ireland in Taekwondo World Championships. Robert Snr, who was one of the country's first black belts, won two silver medals at the Oklahoma World Championships in 1978, while Robert Jnr, who started practicing Taekwondo in 1979, took gold as a member of the Irish team in Kuala Lumpur in 1994. Robert trains in Cabra Parkside Centre - Master Howard's Taekwondo School. His father is the instructor and Robert also teaches there. --__--__-- Message: 7 Date: Thu, 13 Sep 2007 19:17:17 -0700 From: The_Dojang To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Subject: [The_Dojang] Goguryeo part of Korean history Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net U.S. scholar argues Goguryeo part of Korean history September 8 Sarah M. Nelson A well-known U.S. archeologist publicly stated that that Goguryeo Kingdom (37. B.C-A.D. 668) is part of Korean history, bringing the Goguryeo issue to an international archeology conference for the first time. Known as a Korean history expert in the international archeology arena, Sarah M. Nelson, 75, Dept. of Anthropology at the University of Denver, delivered her presentation on Goguryeo at an international conference on Chinese history held by a Korea-based Chinese history research body at Korea's Kyungpook National University on Sep. 7. Based on the study of its relics, Nelson placed Goguryeo in Korean rather than Chinese history for the following reasons: the Goguryeo language seems to be the root of modern Korean; the shape of the chima (skirt), jeogori (female jacket), shoes and king's hat shown in pictures found on Goguryeo relics resemble those of other Korean kingdoms; the style of Goguryeo tombs is found only on the Korean Peninsula, and Goguryeo relics bear more similarities to those of other ancient Korean kingdoms of that time period -- Silla (57 B.C.-A.D.935) and Baekje (18 B.C.-A.D. 660) – than they do to those of China. This is the first time the issue of Goguryeo was taken up at an international academic conference attended by archeologists from many countries, including Japan, Mainland China, Taiwan, and the United States. The issue of Goguryeo was triggered by the "Northeast Asia Project," a Chinese government-backed attempt to revise history. As sanctioned by the project, Chinese scholars have been claiming part of Korean, Mongolian and Manchurian history as their own, much to the consternation of neighboring countries. The Korean government and academics have set out to prove conclusively that Goguryeo was a nation on equal footing with that of ancient China instead of a tributary colony as argued by Northeast Asia Project scholars. "Nelson's argument holds significance since it is based on objective and scientific reasons reached by comprehensive analysis," said Im Hyo-jai, Seoul National University professor and the head of the World Archaeological Congress. Nelson served as the president of The Society for East Asian Anthropology for six years from 2000 to 2006. Her publications include "'Neolithic Sites in Northeastern China and Korea" (1990), "Archaeology of Korea" (1993) and "The Archaeology of Northeast China" (1995). She won the "John Evans Professor" award in 1996 and "Choice Outstanding Book" in 1999. --__--__-- Message: 8 Date: Thu, 13 Sep 2007 20:53:40 -0700 (PDT) From: Jye nigma To: itf-taekwondo@yahoogroups.com, the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Subject: [The_Dojang] video clips: TKD & HKD Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net TKD stuff traditional ITF : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Af-JDO522UA tkd vs karate: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i2fmiUgVFGs tkd vs BJJ: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tDmwyIh4ryQ Afghan TKD: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wUbr_k7XV9Q&mode=related&search= muay thai vs TKD: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e2_bKP2GMTU&mode=related&search= karate vs TKD: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5F3BW-v7sqk http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wgb0yJe2v4s&NR=1 Hapkido Stuff: hapkido vale tuod: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aBSep4-fZ30&NR=1 hapkido training: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oy8vNUt3Gxs&mode=related&search= amazing hapkido: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CVTAWLJCdOY&mode=related&search= national association of traditional hapkido: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SMZfppKekog&mode=related&search= http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h_VxK6-kfkU&mode=related&search= hapkido: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GOCgfuajpJs&mode=related&search= hapkido? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RxAmSKq7zjk&mode=related&search= --------------------------------- Moody friends.
