State associations will have rights and privileges, as well as responsibilities as direct members. Like individual, club and affiliated members, it will be necessary to renew membership each year. We are now taking applications for the 2008 year for State Associations, as the application process is more involved than that for a club or an individual. Current Members of the National Association of State Taekwondo Organizations (NASTO) will be given preference. Any NASTO member that is current and in good standing with NASTO may be granted immediate membership, as long as that state association provides the USAT with copies of: Proof of 501C3, 501c4, or State Non-Profit Corporate Status. This would include letters from IRS or appropriate state agency. Copy of Bylaws. List of officers and contact information. Copy of 2006 tax return. Copy of 2006 treasurer's reports. State Associations that are not current members of NASTO: Letter of application, explaining how your association will benefit the athletes of your state. Proof of 501C3, 501c4, or State Non-Profit Corporate Status. This would include letters from IRS or appropriate state agency. Copy of Bylaws. List of officers and contact information. Copy of 2006 tax return. Copy of 2006 treasurer's reports. In the event of two associations applying to represent the same state, the USAT will determine which organization best represents the interests of the members of that state or will decide if two state organizations can best serve the interests of the state's athletes. All applicable paperwork should be emailed or mailed to the USAT office at One Olympic Plaza, Ste 104C, Colorado Springs, CO 80909 or emailed to Jennifer.Keurulainen@usa-taekwondo.us. As noted above, in the case of larger states, we will consider dividing the state into two representative organizations. We would also consider an organization representing two or more smaller states. States will be allowed to run a state championship wherein the Gold Medalist of the World Class Division will be directly seeded into Nationals or Junior Olympics. Qualification for National Poomsae Team Trials will come from those who qualify at state events. Participation in a state tournament will not be mandatory. Athletes may go directly to Regional Qualification Events without participation in state tournaments. However, we encourage all athletes to compete as much as possible and to support their state associations. We will be providing other support mechanisms to assist states in providing grassroots support for their athletes, referees, coaches and members. Once a state application has been accepted, a $200 yearly membership fee for 2008 must be submitted. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact our office at 719-866-4632. --__--__-- _______________________________________________ The_Dojang mailing list The_Dojang@martialartsresource.net http://martialartsresource.net/mailman/listinfo/the_dojang Subscribe or Unsubscribe: http://the-dojang.net Old digest issues @ ftp://ftp.martialartsresource.com/pub/the_dojang Copyright 1994-2007: Ray Terry and http://MartialArtsResource.com Standard disclaimers apply.
