He said the belts are generally 2 inches wide. My emblem is that size, so it should sew on there perfectly. Like I mentioned to Dan Scholten who also offered me some advice,... I will have earned my black belt. I entered as a white belt (TKD camo belt) but was not given any rank higher than white to begin with. I want the BB to look good. I believe all the work outs, the sweating, the falls, the throws, all the moves learned that have shaped me to become a much more self confident person and now that my inner self is prepared, the outer self should look good too. I will now be going to seminars, and other martial arts classes, (CKM, and others), and will be wearing this belt proudly. For me it is essential that it look good. As you yourself said, you were a little disappointed in the way your own belt looked. I have some months left before I will be able to wear this belt, I am trying to prepare to have it made correctly so it will look good, so when I wear it, I will be showing off the self confidence, and the good looking belt will be seen as someone who took the time to make his appearance look just as good as he feels. I am really proud of this achievement and I want to look good when I become a black belt. The first BB I received had my name spell correctly but the school name and the Taekwondo was written the opposite direction of my name looked kind of weird). So my advice would be to bring your concerns up to your master (respectfully). I remember that I was a little disappointed in the way my belt looked. But in the end its who you are and not the belt you wear. Good luck and congratulations for sticking with it. Can I pass knowledge on? Yeah I think I can do that too. However, now that I have this skill, I'd like to display it proudly not with a belt that hangs down to my knees, but a proper size with the proper emblems, writing, etc. Is a typical black belt a 2 inch wide belt? -------------- Message: 5 Date: Thu, 11 Oct 2007 19:53:01 -0800 From: dan scholten To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Subject: [The_Dojang] Master Dan-Jidokwan Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Doug, Forget about the black belt go to my kick.com and order what ever you need later. What maters is what you learned. Can you defend your self and teach and pass on knowledge that is worth knowing???? Like Mr. Myagi belt at JC Penny hold up pants means nothing. What does mean something is what you learned and does your bb certification Nationally and Internationally recognized by people who are important or is it some piece of paper from some guy in a garage??..............the master?/ who taught them too much money effecting teaching today?? --__--__-- Message: 3 Date: Sat, 13 Oct 2007 10:14:07 -0700 From: "Martial Arts Seminars" To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Subject: [The_Dojang] Bill Wallace Seminar Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net "Superfoot" Bill Wallace Seminar Event Date/Time: October 27 - 10am-noon; 2pm-6pm Event Type: Fitness & Health, Education, Class & Demonstrations, Lectures, Paid Admission - 1st family member: $99 - 2nd family member: $79 - 3rd family member: $59 - 4th (or more) family member: $49 417-425-1472 417-890-0080 Bill "Superfoot" Wallace will once again be in Springfield, hosted by the National Progressive Taekwondo Association for a seminar event.
