Master Terry, who are some others that clearly did not deserve the ranks they were promoted to? Surely it would take more that 2 or 3 questionable promotions? While I haven't seen the racial issues spoken of by Master Cyrus, I do see his point in the difference in Korea Kido Hae and World Kido Hae seems to be very little if any at all. Both are based in Korea. Both offer ranking to outsiders. Any other difference that a student/instructor should be made aware of? The one thing I like about WKF's Grand Master Seo is that he's accessible and still gets on the mat. Does the president/grandmaster of Korea Kido Hae still get on the mat? Come here to the USA? It is a fairly lengthy list, but they've been in the rank biz for a rather long time. Many tried to claim for years that their WKF rank was recongized in Korea when it was not. I suspect that they were too trusting and assumed what they were being told was the truth. Sadly, there are some with WKF rank that are very deserving individuals. Were I one of them I'd be upset, and I know several that are. As Ian correctly points out, having rank that is recognized in Korea doesn't really mean all that much... outside of Korea. But it is good to at least know where your rank does come from. If it is only from Joe's Corner Dojang, so be it, as long as Joe teaches good stuff. > While I haven't seen the racial issues spoken of by Master Cyrus, I do see > his point in the difference in Korea Kido Hae and World Kido Hae seems to be > very little if any at all. Both are based in Korea. The World Kido Federation is based in California; Pleasanton, CA. Before moving to their office in Pleasanton it was based in Fremont, CA. Both are more or less just "up the street" from me.
