Sir, it seems this point is very important to you. As previously mentioned I am not Kido Hwe. Neither am I World Kido Fed. I neither know nor care who from the WKF gets on the mat, or who from Korea gets on the mat for the Kido Hwe. However I do know of the past actions and claims of the WKF and we've already discussed some of that. In closing this thread I'll simply state again what I stated on Wednesday... "But this was originally about the Korea Kido Hwe. From this outsider's perspective it seems that they've done the right thing, all the way down the line." If you disagree with that basic point, so be it. It has 2 words on it in the foreign language that makes them, Japanese or Korean I know not which either. Anyway, I don't know if I have it hanging upside down or rightside up. Not that it matters as it just gets palm strikes, elbow strikes, & punches. But I'd like to have it right side up. Can someone explain to me the direction the words go? It's vertical on my wall. Thanks! Master Terry you present a question with a long hard answer. You question someone's credibility by questioning decisions they have made and it appears you do so by naming one name that you appear to have a certain professional or personal bias over. As Master Gordon pointed and I believe Master Cyrus Pointed out there is not much said about the multitude of Korean Japanese or other masters from other Nationalities or Races who have attained high rank simply by getting to 30,000 feet in an airplane. There is unfortunately a large amount of this prejudicial stupidity "IMNSHO"* throughout the "Industry" or "Arts". It would seem that if a persons credibility can be so easily called to task what is the "HO" of GM Seo, In Sun as there are people who monitor (read?) this list who have also been promoted by GM Seo so mayhaps you are calling their credibility to task also???THE QUESTION:Where and how does prejudice stop in our Business Art and Industry????*In My Not So Humble Opinion ----- It starts with first person singular ME or in the case of those reading this YOU! Consider this... Someone has dan rank in Korean art XYZ, high dan rank or otherwise. That rank was awarded by a Kuk Sool Won grandmaster. Yet art XYZ is not Kuk Sool Won...!!!??? Gm Seo "certifies ranks in 31 Korean martial arts including Hapkido" (taken directly from the WKF website). And that doesn't set off loud alarm bells? Think about it... I haven't seen this version of the demo team but if it is anything like the one that went to South Korea a while back it should be pretty impressive. These kids do TKD for their lives and the lives of their families. Has anyone seen coverage of the NKers? Does their TKD look to be more ITF or more Kukki style? I saw a very short video snippet and seemed to notice a bit of the ITF sine wave. Yes? The president and all of the Senior Board of Masters of the KDH are readily available to get on the mat with you, providing that you are willing to travel to Korea, where the KDH (until now) solely functions. As far as some questionable promotions floating around in some organizations, Ray is right on the money with that. I can remember traveling with Dr. Kimm around the southeastern Part of the USA in the 70s and 80s and I don't recall EVER seeing another non Korean Hapkido practitioner.....But now there seems to be lots of folks who hold 8th or 9th dans, but never seemed to have held any lower dan rank in Hapkido below 7th dan, even according to their own bios.....Dr. Kimm and I have been offered a great honor and responsibility and I look forward to seeing how it works out......JRW --__--__-- _______________________________________________ The_Dojang mailing list The_Dojang@martialartsresource.net http://martialartsresource.net/mailman/listinfo/the_dojang Subscribe or Unsubscribe: http://the-dojang.net Old digest issues @ ftp://ftp.martialartsresource.com/pub/the_dojang Copyright 1994-2007: Ray Terry and http://MartialArtsResource.com Standard disclaimers apply.
