Anyway hope it helps R. Jack LeClair has over 35 years in training in martial arts, and is a 3rd degreed black belt in TKD and has a blue belt in our Hapkido class. He has been training in HKD for over four years. What is so amazing is that he is able to remember most of the techniques he's taught even his forms in class. I hope I can do as well when I reach his age. Keep up the good work, Mr. Jack!!!! To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net I started in TKD and discovered HKD when I decided to look for something more than TKD. I love both arts, but the more I study HKD, the more I come to understand that HKD is a full art. Any martial art is better or worse because of the instructor, I am fortunate to live in Jackson and train in HKD under GM West. K. Very complementary arts in my opinion. We don't mix the arts too much in class. Taekwon-Do students get some basic locks but the self defense portion is predominately hard style. Vice versa with Hapkido. We try to follow the ITF terminology for Taekwon-Do and use more generic terminology for the Hapkido. Works well for us. I'd like to see a wider range of hapkido techniques other then all the wrist twisting clips I've come across. jye michael tomlinson wrote: seven minutes approx. and I counted four actual HKD techniques??? good acrobats, good kicks, cool designer uniforms, lots of mats, and some crazy flag waving??
