The knife he stripped from his attacker would be considered a weapon of opportunity and his actions self defense. I think he will be ok unless the District Attorney is a liberal democrat.. Todays News in NYC state that a black belt in his 40's killed a man with a knife he took from him and put his 3 fellow robbers in the hospital during an attack last night in Brooklyn. Someone is training. Last I heard one of the others is in critical or dead along with the ring leader. Now, what do you think is going to happen to the black belt for taking a knife from someone and using it on them? Even though he was jumped by multiple people? Did the guy who was attacked continue to thrash his oppenents even after he was able to get away? If so then he is in a lot of trouble. An innocent person minding their own business gets attacked then they have every right to defend them selves with what ever means are available. There are times during this event that the defender can not be held responsible for the things he /she does in an attack,as sequences can move so fast you don't even have time to recall what you just did three seconds ago. So lets not condemn our black belter but give him our support . Actually i congratulate the black belt he has learn well .I once had a similar incident , though i did not kill any one i made the three respect me afterwards. Parks was being attacked, prior training or not he must have been experiencing some amount of stress during the attack, which would affect him physically. More than likely experiencing tunnel vision with some loss of focus, limiting his ability to discern attackers from possible persons coming to his aide.
