Somehow my email address got passed on to them, and I managed the martial arts aspects of the production. As the acting KHF international liaison, I chose two of the best masters (and personal friends/instructors of mine) to be the Korean stars of the show. Master Kim Nam Je (KyungMoo Kwan) and Masters Bae Sung Book and Ju Seoung Weo (both UlJi Kwan) all graciously gave their and their students' bodies and time to make the two-week shoot a wonderful success. The two stars of the show, Doug and Jimmy, are fantastic and fun guys. They are serious martial artists and showed great respect for everything and everyone involved. Although everyone involved in the show were Korea Hapkido Federation instructors and masters, the show will clearly focus on hapkido and not the organization. If you've ever wondered what training in Korea is like, watch the show. If you've ever wondered what the best of the best look like, watch Masters Kim, Bae, and Ju teach and execute their techniques. Most importantly, if you want to see unpolitically movtivated masters do what they do best, watch the show. By the way, I will be on some of the shots. I destroyed my right knee a couple months before the filming and could barely walk, so if you see a short white guy in the back demonstrating some sloppy kicks, just ignore me since I could barely put any weight on that leg at the time. I am hoping they show my sparring match with one of Master Ju's students. He was much faster than I (a 80-year-old grandma would have been faster than me because of my knee), so I just kept waiting for him to get close and take him to the ground. It was fun to roll around on the dirt floor of a Buddhist temple courtyard. John A. JohnsonSeoul, S. It was four great days of working out about 6 to 8 hours a day and learning from Master Bae, Master Harold Whalen, and Master Holcombe Thomas...we would sweat and beat on each other all day and then go eat big steaks and drink cold beers at night......dudes...priceless training with some great Hapkido Masters...Master Rick Nabors made it over from his busy work schedule for a day, and there were many more great Hapkidoin there. I found Master Bae to be really down to earth, humble, scarey good at Hapkido and really able to transfer his ideas to everyone there.....can't wait to see you get beat up Jack!!! LOL...great work brother...
