Then when I started in Taekwondo in 1970 with a Korean instructor, I continued the 'not crossed' method of belt tying. I noticed though that when I met Dr Kimm in 1992, he crossed his belt! This would suggest to me that crossed or uncrossed is more a matter of personal choice than a national trait. I still encourage my students to tie their belts 'uncrossed' although I have taught a Korean martial art since 1970. I think Mike Mccarty's boys are still training in South Windsor and Chris Lacava is still down in Westport. In a message dated 1/28/2008 7:58:40 P.M. He is hard at work in Conn. on the MGM Grand project and totally away from a computer. He has looked around for a good place to get on a Korean Mat but so far nothing that has come up is worthwhile. He still has his sense of sarcastic humor....gee I'm glad I'm not like that!!! LOL.... Anyway he is doing well and sends his regards gents....
