Kwan Jang Nim is titled to 8th degree or Higher WTF or 7th or Higher ITF (Master of the Dojang) doesn't need to be a Dojang Owner Operator. Kyou Sa is titled to 3rd & 4th (Junior Instructor). It has nothing to do with martial arts rank. The owner of an appt building is a kwanjang. Now that said, we do often hear kwanjang used in the West in reference to martial arts rank, but if you talk to folks from/in Korea you learn otherwise. If you have a look at the Chinese characters that the Koreans pronounce "sabeom", they have a pretty figurative meaning, something along the lines of "a teacher who teaches teachers". I believe that the generally seen translation of "sabeom" as "master" was started by us Americans. Hope this helps...
