This being the first time responding to a general question in the forum I will introduce myself simply as Blase a humble student of Kido Kwan Hapkido new to the Great North West of Washington State. I have just researched a little bit on the subject of Korean Sword and have come up with these links you might like to check out. It seems that the Art of Korean Sword making was lost for a time but there just recently getting there "groove" back (sorry for the pun) :) And it seems the Kuk Sool won Schools teach the traditional sword forms also. Hope this helps. Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Please forgive my rather simple question, but is there a Korean term for the Menuki? Can someone point me towards a source of information on the various swords used in Korean history? I am very interested in the history of Korean Martial Arts, especially the sword and its use. I have thus far been very unsuccessful in finding a good source of information on Korean Swords and Sword Arts - most source material focuses on the Japanese and the Samurai. T. Kumar, secretary general of the Malaysian Taekwondo Association (MTA), told Reuters that a dispute with national sports commissioner Elyas Omar could threaten their participation at the Beijing Olympics. The MTA was deregistered in 2005 because it refused to give voting rights to clubs. However, under an agreement with Sports Minister Azalina Othman Said in July, it backtracked and was allowed to resume operations. According to media reports, Elyas is still refusing to recognise the MTA. "The WTF (World Taekwondo Federation) has been very lenient with us," Kumar said. "They have not done anything yet but we know they are concerned about the situation and we never know what will happen in the future. "If they act, then it could threaten our place in the Olympics." The WTF, which has the right to suspend associations subjected to government interference, has so far resisted moves to intervene. Two members of Malaysia's taekwondo team, Elaine Teo (57kg) and Che Chew Chan (67kg), have already booked places in Beijing via an Olympic qualifying tournament in Vietnam in November. --__--__-- Message: 4 Date: Wed, 20 Feb 2008 08:51:57 -0800 (PST) From: J Hazen To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Subject: [The_Dojang] Sinmoo Hapkido global conference 2008: July 19-20 Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net July 19 & 20, 2008 San Francisco, CA Train with some of the top Sinmoo Hapkido instructors from around the world at this one of a kind event.
