I in all the talk about sticking to the rules of competition I noticed in the fight on You Tube no warnings or deductions being given for either side Self Scoring which is a hand gesturing movements and leaving the competition area also low or illegal kicks to non target areas and faking injury?? Is this what USAT has accomplished with their superior training and certifications programs? If so then it is time to have Askinas model the new uniforms that includes pink Tutu's because we may as well dance. Now there is a Kodak moment. --__--__-- Message: 2 Date: Fri, 11 Apr 2008 17:10:35 -0800 From: dan scholten To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Subject: [The_Dojang] Master Dan using hands and eqauly matched oponents Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net First equally matched opponents: It not about just playing it safe its about earning the respect of the opponent and spectators by fighting hard enough and aggressive enough to win by knock out, or not be knocked out by the other after they have thrown all they can. Hence you can take the best of what they can throw and survive to hit them back harder, score, knock them down or knock them out. That is a good fight, stop playing it safe for a one point advantage but have confidence in your superior conditioning and heart. Win or loose its all good. Hands: does anyone understand what dropping the Chi or Ki is ??? when you learn and can control that plus the people I have trained with all my life can punch bare knuckle through 10 inches of brick or blocks not fake, not dry, not spaced. That is real power and even 10% of that with dropped chi and into a conception point, or a lung point in the chest legal area will make your opponent drop their arms and shock the lungs, they lower their head and cannot defend and you then have access to the head and body with feet that you can have a good chance of knocking them down. Its not about scoring for a single punch its about wearing them down for knock out or 7 point advantage then the match is over. Its not about just hands or just feet but both in combination and not just single punches but combination punches two and three. Work a person down so they lower their head. Does anybody remember some of the flying over the top punches when the Korean first started coming here?? Of course I remember one that shattered his hand and wrist when he hit the hip bone instead of what he wanted but he should have had control. Two master's tests ago I had a guy 20 years younger that could leap around a lot and kick to my head but so what it did effect my vision because my head gear spun around but meant nothing so I calmly hit where I need to and he could not use his legs. Frankly there is a lot you can do in blocking and hands to disarm your opponents while they are hitting you,in fact you want them to hit you. We sat down later and her turned to me and said is that legal and I said who gives a shit you should have respect for your elders. The art of true full contact has been lost because people stopped training for it decades ago. --__--__-- Message: 3 Date: Fri, 11 Apr 2008 20:04:09 -0700 (PDT) From: Jye nigma Subject: RE: [The_Dojang] FAI Camp 2008 - save $30 To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net I don't know but he looks a hot mess. This is the art, err sport, the Kukkiwon has given us. In the rush to get into and stay in the Olympics a great many things have changed thanks to the Kukkiwon, the World Taekwondo Headquarters. This is why imho Kukki-Taekwondo is what the sport aspect of TKD should be termed and Taekwondo should remain a martial art. And Jay your right about the nice smile. I haven't looked at this site for ages as I rolled down it just got my blood boiling again when I see their coaching program. Thumbing their nose at every master that had decades of coaching and certification from USTU not to mention life time memberships. Oh I forgot their whole new program was to insure quality? Well based on the picture and the You Tube fight hell watch the DVD's of Olympic finals they suck!!!!!!!!!! 2000 AND 2004. You know they expect guys over 50 and 60 to jump around and kick for an hour like kids just for level one entry certification. GEEEEEEEEEE do the highest paid and most successful coaches in the NBA and NFL over 50, 60, and up do that??? This is not only arrogant but ignorant. That is why I and many others boycott this pampas and ignorant organization and I for one would end up in jail for assault the first time some young punk tells me to jump around like a kid or I am not qualified to teach or coach. He would be on the ground with serious injuries. This is why the general public has no respect for TKD because they only think of the watered down sport marketing group of paper tigers that would not last in the real world or street for ten seconds. I meet black belt after black belt 1st, second, third Dan or higher that cannot fight inside, go to ground or defend against weapon's, in fact no real defense at all. Thank God there is a new organization we can go to that is refocusing on the traditional martial art side of TKD. --__--__-- Message: 7 Date: Sat, 12 Apr 2008 16:11:11 -0700 From: The_Dojang To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Subject: [The_Dojang] KTO Taekwondo Tour Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net The Korea Tourism Organization is hosting the 2nd World Taekwondo Cultural Expo asking schools to visit for 8 days, 7 nights for $280 per or 9 days, 8 nights for $400 per in Muju and Jeonju, Korea.
