Your right Pitiful but the video quality was pretty good and the video streaming was very fast this time. There are several more parts of this test listed on the link but I will go back and watch later to pain full to watch all at one time. My god these guys could not defend themselves in any fashion. I have seen students test under people like this and they are more at risk of being hurt thinking they know something than if they were never taught at all. You Tube really does a good job of exposing fraud but it is also a good teaching tube as well. --__--__-- Message: 2 Date: Sat, 26 Apr 2008 16:03:01 -0700 (PDT) From: gerardo lugo Subject: Re: [The_Dojang] Re: test video To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net now a days in many schools a black belt is expected in 2 years regardless of ability and maturity what you see in these videos is nothing but the evolution of those practices. --------------------------------- Be a better friend, newshound, and know-it-all with Yahoo! But as I understand it they are often in class five days a week, and sometimes even helping out in demos on Sunday. It isn't the fairly typical 45 min class three days a week that we often see in the West. So them getting 1st poom in one year there vs. students in the West getting 1st poom in two to three years is -probably- about equal. Ray ______________________ No disrespect meant toward anyone...simply an observation. When my grandmaster (Native Korean - 9th Dan Kukkiwon) was alive, he would open his arms to many native Koreans that would move to this country (USA). As a result, many families had children that received their poom and/or black belt before their move to the states. These students would attend our dojang after getting settled in to their new surroundings. Most of these students that attended our classes were absolutely awful...we had blue belts that were more technically proficient than these poom/black belts were. Now, many of these "relocated" students had tons of potential, it just had not even come close to being tapped. The first time I saw the sloppiness of their technique, I was utterly speechless. I just couldn't believe that these students came from Korea. This was a rather frequent occurrence over the years...far from an isolated incident. Again, just an observation from my little corner of my little world... --__--__-- Message: 4 From: "Master Aaron Locke" To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Date: Sun, 27 Apr 2008 05:01:58 +0000 Subject: Re: [The_Dojang] Re: test video Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net I agree 100% to all these comments. The nanchlance that they exhibit in this video is embarassing. It's absolutely ridiculous. Especially the part where the examiners are apologizing to the testees for doing badly. Wow. I have never seen anything like it. You learn like four kicks and a couple of poomsae. Not sure if this is fact or fiction, but most all men in Korea do have a 1st Dan. If they hear you are a 1st Dan they are not impressed since most everyone is. However if you are a 2nd Dan (or higher) they are then impressed. I am not an expert by any means and My body cannot do what it once could perform with ease. it is called age and inevitably we all reach a point . where the body is no longer a weapon of destruction. But is the attitude and the years of training that allow us that moment when everything clicks and falls into place .This is what allows us to survive and the ability and live to tell the story. Having taught Hapkido for many years and having taught people from all walks of life and different shapes and various conditions ,I am some what qualified to make a comment. I counted the older gentle man being stabbed several times while retreating with his back to the wall side stepping would have helped him avoid several of his wounds . --------------------------------- Be a better friend, newshound, and know-it-all with Yahoo!
