You should never sign a letter that has anything that is not factual. Therefore, if you don't know for sure that someone is XYZ, don't say they are. I personally have gone through the immigration process for my wife. I'm not sure why it took you five years Scott, wow that seems like a long time. It did not take me anywhere near that. From start to finish was less than a year. I also do immigration law out of my law office. I currently am helping a woman get a fiance visa for her fiance, and am looking at ways to assist a person in coming to the US to purchase a business. I don't get enough immigration clients here in Montana to only do immigration, but I have helped a number of people with different visas and other other issues. Do not ever provide anything that is not factual, and that you can't verify. I'm all for helping fellow martial artists. But before anyone should vouch for someone else, you must know exactly what you are verifying and why. And you better know it as fact. That's just good common sense, and will keep you out of trouble. You did not state what kind of visa you are apply for, or what part of the application you are doing. However, it seems there would be better ways to provide evidence that asking people who don't know this person to write a letter on his behalf. Now if there are people here who know him, that's another story. If I can be of assistance, let me know, Alain www.burrese.com --__--__-- Message: 5 Date: Tue, 6 May 2008 20:46:46 -0700 (PDT) From: Jye nigma Subject: Re: [The_Dojang] RE:Spetsnaz To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net I can't remember exactly, but I think the key to the eggs is to have alot to evenly distribute the weight of the body. Also, the eggs must be vertical I think because they are stronger that way. As far as the bottle break... http://youtube.com/watch?v=0ITCne0dOKQ&feature=related don't forget to yell! Even those who "ranted" and addressed me in a disrespectful manner offered some measure of perspective and advice that enabled me to learn about this process. For this, I am grateful. To clarify, I intentionally made my initial posting succinct and request personal correspondence from those willing to assist me because I am largely ignorant of the details of this process. To assume that I am intentionally attempting to circumnavigate the system and perform illegal actions is erroneous. It was my assumption that as a collection of martial artists on this board, I could anticipate being well received and given at least the "benefit of the doubt" prior to being maligned publicly. My error was in assuming that such a concept could be universally applied. I have been a subscriber and sometimes contributer to the DD for over 4 years now. Perhaps I have not maintained an identity here to sufficiently warrant the respect of all subscribers, but I assure you I hold myself to a higher standard than to attempt to use anyone for personal gain. Again, anyone who may be able to help me with this process, please contact me directly. It did not take me anywhere near that. From start to > finish was less than a year. ... Like most things in my life "bad timing", and an abhorrent need to follow the rules were the major culprits. I met my wife when President Clinton was in office. He suspended the law the required illegal immigrates applying for greencards to return to their country of origin while waiting for their papers to be processed. My wife had a requirement from a previous Visa of spending two years in her home country before she could return to the US. While we waited that out. President Bush took office and reinstated the law. The result was a flood of illegal immigrants getting married to anyone who would sign a paper and applying for greencards before the dead line when the law would go back into effect, so that they could stay in the US while it processed. (There was even a special option on the INS phone menu specifically for Illegal Mexican Immigrants who needed their visas within 24 hours. I beleave it was option 2. It has since been removed.) That back logged the INS office for a year and gave those applications preference over all other standardly filed applications. Then 911 happened and immigration was put on hold again. (Yes the highjackers applied for, got their visas, and came here while My wife and I patently waited.) They also tacked on an extra 6 months because she took a two week vacation to Europe while she waited for the visa to process. (It was only supposed to be 2 weeks but when they set it aside they lost the file and didn't look for it again until I called and ask what the status was.) So IMO US immigration is FUBAR. But on the topic more related to KMA. Has anyone had experience with Korean masters importing other masters to teach at their schools because Americans, even the ones that they trained themselves, are not qualified to teach Korean martial arts? Those masters then disappear into the country side when their visa's run out and new masters appear? Or have any of you ever been offered money by your master to marry a "cousin" so that they can immigrate to the US. I had 15 years experience with the Korean martial arts immigration business and saw this happening with dozens of masters from many different schools. But now I'm wondering if anyone else ever had the same experience? Or has that part of my world view just been skewed for so long for no reason. Sounds like you need a thicker skin. Bottom line, there are a ton of scams floating around the internet now and in the last year or two in this Visa area. One popular one is "I've heard so many good things about you. Would you please help me enter your country so that I may train with you". There are many many others. To summarize, we very wary of any and all requests for help in entering the country unless you've known the person for years and know them very very well. i.e. not just a friend of a friend.
