"This will help us in a variety of ways. We want to see the athletes step up and showcase their skills over the course of five days rather than necessarily relying on viewing 4-5 fights over a single day. One, we can guide the athletes to work on areas where we have spotted deficiencies in their games and also suggest to them techniques that might work well with their fighting styles. We will also be evaluating all of them not only to select a team for the Pan Am Championships in Puerto Rico but also with an eye toward seeing where we may want to invest future developmental resources. "We want to create a number of different national teams that we can send to high level international open tournaments in the next few years with an eye toward the next generation of National Team members and Olympians. Even if an athlete is not selected for the PATU Championships team there will be other opportunities in the near future to represent the USA. We are looking to build depth in each division for a pool of fast and explosive fighters. The coaches will be looking for coachable athletes who want to learn and improve their games. This is a great opportunity for the athletes at the camp to show up and impress the national team coaching staff that they have what it takes to succeed at a higher level.” The Pan American Taekwondo Championships are scheduled forOctober 1-6 in San Juan, Puerto Rico. --__--__-- Message: 3 From: Ray To: The_Dojang Date: Tue, 3 Jun 2008 16:14:46 -0700 Subject: [The_Dojang] Kick me Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Join the USAT Kick-a-Thon and Win a Visit from a 2008 Olympian June 3, 2008 Be a part of the Olympic Spirit of 2008!
