Coaches and referees from 50 different countries meet in Busan (The_Dojang) --__--__-- Message: 1 Date: Tue, 24 Jun 2008 14:12:12 -0700 From: The_Dojang To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Subject: [The_Dojang] Coaches and referees from 50 different countries meet in Busan Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Getting to know taekwondo: world gathers for historic summit June 24 CBC Sports cbc.ca Taekwondo coaches and referees from 50 different countries met in Busan, South Korea, recently for seminars in preparation for the 2008 Summer Games. Some 100 coaches and officials turned out for the World Taekwondo Federation (WTF) event, the first of its kind. One sport is expected to be cut from the Summer Olympic Games, which is a topic on the agenda when the International Olympic Committee (IOC) meets next October. One of the points stressed by the WTF is to present the sport in a fair and positive light in Beijing to ensure it remains an Olympic sport. A two-day coaching seminar was led by Ju-ho Chang, president of Korea's Olympic Academy. Referees who are confirmed for the Beijing Olympics were taken through a week-long review course as a refresher for the Summer Games. --__--__-- _______________________________________________ The_Dojang mailing list The_Dojang@martialartsresource.net http://martialartsresource.net/mailman/listinfo/the_dojang Subscribe or Unsubscribe: http://the-dojang.net Old digest issues @ ftp://ftp.martialartsresource.com/pub/the_dojang Copyright 1994-2008: Ray Terry and http://MartialArtsResource.com Standard disclaimers apply.
