While I don't share your steadfast aversion to MTV, I do dislike most of their programming and the negative influences their programming has had. As far as a disclaimer goes, I have brought up this point with the manager of Master Chan Lee's web site (www.jkleeblackbelt.com). They have voiced a personal disclaimer in class (when they were promoting the episode) and in the KISS FM radio interview that is posted on the web site, but as yet have not posted such a disclaimer on the web site. I like your analogy of a wolf in sheep's clothing here, but I don't see how the other (knowing a tree by it's fruit) applies. I'm sure you are more familiar with bible verses than I and would not attempt to spar in this manner. Respectfully yours, Victor Dodge "Gordon Okerstrom" To PM cc Subject Please respond to [The_Dojang] MTV Promotion the_dojang@martia lartsresource.net Mr. Dodge, I think I understand your view but, I cannot condone supporting this company. If it was a separate company that I could get behind and that company was trying to get exposure through any outlet, even this vile one, I might help. They would have to announce that they were; different than and object to, the other programming presented on MTV. To me, a sheepdog, MTV is a wolf. Even if that wolf puts on a sheep's skin for an hour or two, by putting on a nice looking show, it's still a wolf. I stand at the gate and protect my sheep from wolves to the best of my ability. The little lambs are the most at risk because they may not recognize the wolf when he is covered like this and it's the lambs that watch this, this pit of vipers. If you want to trade verses, try Mathew 7:15-23 about knowing a tree by its fruit. I am further encouraged that you have voiced this to your fellow warriors. As to the tree and its fruit, the tree is MVT and its fruit is the programming coming from it. A bad tree cannot produce good fruit. The bad tree should be cut down and another planted in its place that can grow good fruit. Assuming I have the superior knowledge in this area is a warrior tactic that I respect and therefore I am all the more cautious. Indeed you are a formidable opponent. Obi-Wan has taught you well. : ) Gordon Okerstrom --__--__-- Message: 4 Date: Wed, 25 Jun 2008 14:56:17 -0700 (PDT) From: Jye nigma Subject: Re: [The_Dojang] MTV Promotion To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Reading this thread made me think of Dr Martin Luther King Jr. I'm sure when he shared his idea(s) to bring down the walls of segregation and inequality someone said "man leave those white people alone, no good can come out of being integrated with them". Now I wonder what life would be like if Dr. King would have listened to those who thought leaving something that's not good [in this case segregation] alone.   The point is, closed mouths don't get fed. If you want change to occur in MTV don't silently boycott them, get a petition going for them to change programming BUT also realize that something positive like the MA episode of made can be used as an example of quality television. For instance, let's say you start a petition and are invited to speak with whoever controls programming. In this interview if you say I don't like what you all are showing, etc. Naturally a response from them could be, "well, what would you prefer we show?" Then you could say well there was one episode of made....   Just my 2 cents.....now can I borrow a dime? lol   Jye --- On Wed, 6/25/08, Victor.E.Dodge@jci.com wrote: From: Victor.E.Dodge@jci.com Subject: Re: [The_Dojang] MTV Promotion To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Date: Wednesday, June 25, 2008, 2:06 PM Mr. Okerstrom, I can see that you feel very strongly about this.
