For example, a lot of schools teach the front snap kick and the jumping front snap kick in the first or second week. As with most industries, the martial arts have "fad periods", where certain aspects of the martial arts are popular. In my martial arts lifetime I have seen the Bruce Lee period, the kickboxing period (PKA), the ninjustsu period, the Olympic Tae Kwon Do period, and the mma period. My question is: have you made your Korean martial art conform to the mma period? For example, a lot of schools teach the front snap kick and the jumping front snap kick in the first or second week. Personally I do not think you should teach jump kicks untill a student can execute a standing kick with speed, balance, control, and proper form. Jumping can only compound any problems experienced by a new student. As dry as anything the basic techniques need to be assimilated before higher level skills can be developed. We have had a standardized syllabus for each rank and what techniques are required. Granted, these are a general guide line and you can always add to them. However, when you take away or exchange things I feel you tend to plaque the art. If you're independent and don't belong to an Orthadoxed organization or system then do as you please.
