You can also call 1888 SOOBAHK (may have to wait a bit) Forms or Hyungs are varied from the early Pyong Ahn, and others from some of the Okinawan/ Japanese period, through the Chil Sung (Seven Star and Yuk Ro Hyung) There are enough forms to keep a youngster up all night. Don't want to take the time for the history here. Not to say that this site is the end-all of display of the South Korean Flag, but it has a protocol for display of the flag vertically. In Dojangs I see around most seem to display it vertically. http://www.crwflags.com/fotw/Flags/kr.html#vert The practical problem with horizontal display is that most flags don't have gussets on both ends of the flag. So if you don't have them on flag poles -- it's difficult to do. Also here's a web-site with the US flag protocols... http://www.ushistory.org/betsy/flagcode.htm Under 7.d -- you display the US flag to the viewers left against a wall. When you have them on staffs -- you put the US flag to the center. I've been taught by my Master to display the South Korean flag with red to the left -- which disagrees with the above -- but it does the same transformation that you do with the US flag. The thing that I can say for sure is that when horizontal -- Red is up and heaven (the unbroken lines) is on the upper left. Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net USAT Introduces Rolling Membership August 12, 2008 On September 1, 2008, USA Taekwondo will transfer over to a rolling membership system. The practical effect of this change will be that from the date you register as a USAT member your membership will expire a full calendar year ahead instead of on December 31, 2008. This major change is requiring a major software redevelopment project from HangAStar and it is hopeful that the changes will be completed by the September 1, 2008 target date. "We have studied this concept for about a year now, have received extensive feedback from membership and decided that this was a change that was important to our USA taekwondo family," said USAT CEO David Askinas. "Existing club owners and especially those new to USAT that joined in mid-year had some hesitation in signing up new members after Junior Olympics were completed because they did not think they were getting full value for their membership fees. This changeover to rolling membership removes that impediment. "We expect that there will be only a few minor issues that will arise after the changeover and we will be ready to deal with those. We are in a tough economy right now and anyway that we can give more value to our membership is worth examining. We believe the rolling membership system will be popular with our members so we are going to proceed in that direction." --__--__-- Message: 4 Date: Tue, 12 Aug 2008 08:24:44 -0700 From: "California Taekwondo" To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Subject: [The_Dojang] Beijing Olympics - Major Competition Rules Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Beijing Olympics - Major Competition Rules http://wtf.org/site/wtf/notice.htm?realnum=244&mode=view --__--__-- _______________________________________________ The_Dojang mailing list The_Dojang@martialartsresource.net http://martialartsresource.net/mailman/listinfo/the_dojang Subscribe or Unsubscribe: http://the-dojang.net Old digest issues @ ftp://ftp.martialartsresource.com/pub/the_dojang Copyright 1994-2008: Ray Terry and http://MartialArtsResource.com Standard disclaimers apply.
