Now I realize that some stuff in there is silly like having a name for holding on to a person while kicking another, but the hand conditioning, using a tree for conditioning, etc is useful. Now from studying other MAs I've learned about the usefulness of stance training. Since karate is TKD parent then we could use some of there conditioning methods and training methods as well to have a more complete experience. Once we train in those things and understand all of their usefulness then we can transmit them done to the students, which will bring up a new generation of TKD warriors which will be respected by the global MA family.   Jye --__--__-- Message: 3 Date: Thu, 18 Sep 2008 22:26:20 -0400 From: "Rick Clark" Subject: RE: [The_Dojang] Poomsae, real martial arts, stances etc. To: Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Hi Victor, > From: Victor.E.Dodge@jci.com [mailto:Victor.E.Dodge@jci.com] > Good morning Mr. Clark, [Rick Clark] please use Rick - I feel silly with Mr. or Master, other honorifics on the internet. Take a look at the self-defense techniques you like and try and see if you can find them in your forms. I believe you will, see them there. I am probably going to have to bow out of posting to the list for a while. I am getting ready to head off to Belgium, Germany, and France to teach some seminars. If there are any members on the list that live over there have a look at my web site and see if I will be close. It would be nice to put a face to a name on the list. One thing I have always been good about is developing a good library - and reading the silly things. I don't care what the topic of martial arts I think it's important of those of us that teach learn as much as we can about other martial arts and their history and traditions.
