Nothing says, however, that something new may arise better still! Keep in mind, when we started, and I assume the "we" here is mid 1960's) martial arts was small, mysterious and captivating. It grew out of all proportions and expectations. What it will become is so much based on what a merger may produce, the continued interest in MMA, the possibility of something uniquely American appearing...who can tell. As for training, I tie belt promotions to the minimum standards of the Presidents Council of physical Fitness. After red belt, then its tied to the standards I set in weight and aerobic training. My method is guaranteed to get my school to close!!! But I and my instructors are avid bodybuilders and that too is a sell. Past keeping our fingers crossed, make sure you find and nurture the few students that will remember everything you learned and taught. We can make it just as good today as we think it was. Dave O. Probably nothing will return martial arts to what it was when we started. These techniques can be classified as follows: Empty hands against empty hands. Empty hands against a weapon. Weapons against weapon. Each of these categories include: Punching, kicking, Joint locking, grappling, Pressure points, throwing techniques Hapmudo is based on the theory of circular defense as opposed to direct defense. Direct defense may cause injury and may be unsuccessful against greater power whereas Hapmudo's circular defense requires little power but much knowledge and skill. These delicate techniques will overcome brute force almost always. The meaning of the word Hapmudo is "the way to combine mind and body power for World Peace" Hapmudo is a complete Martial Art where you receive a full and well-rounded Martial Arts education. You will learn the Mental and Spiritual benefits of the Martial Arts as well as training in the Physical aspects. It is also includes training in 72 weapons starting with the nunchaku, staff, sword, fan, cane, rope, knife, etc. Well, I'm no expert, but I've observed firsthand Rim's Hapkido, and other arts. I've never ever seen single hand grab defenses that take 15 seconds to execute. Flying Head Scissors? What? This really looks like a demonstration set of techs, not those which would end a fight instantly. Those should take eyeblinks. Here's what I percieve an effective fight should be: Threat *blink* Threat on ground bleeding. Jye, you find some interesting videos on YouTube, such as a Hapkido Black Belt Test. The one I saw was light compared to my MDK Green Belt test which took me an hour myself. I wish I had schools like that, I'd be a V Dan Black Belt in TKD and Hapkido by now. -----Original Message----- From: Jye nigma [mailto:kingjye@yahoo.com] Sent: Tuesday, September 30, 2008 1:47 PM To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Subject: [The_Dojang] ok I can't keep up Can someone please tell me what Hapmudo is? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y4GGggUZT30&feature=related Jye _______________________________________________ The_Dojang mailing list, 2,400 members The_Dojang@martialartsresource.net Copyright 1994-2008: Ray Terry and Martial Arts Resource Standard disclaimers apply Subscribe or Unsubscribe: http://the-dojang.net --__--__-- _______________________________________________ The_Dojang mailing list The_Dojang@martialartsresource.net http://martialartsresource.net/mailman/listinfo/the_dojang Subscribe or Unsubscribe: http://the-dojang.net Old digest issues @ ftp://ftp.martialartsresource.com/pub/the_dojang Copyright 1994-2008: Ray Terry and http://MartialArtsResource.com Standard disclaimers apply.
