Maybe a "new" thing? :O) Respectfully Curt McCauley Channel Town Soo Bahk Do --__--__-- Message: 3 Date: Tue, 30 Sep 2008 20:21:42 -0700 (PDT) From: Jye nigma Subject: RE: [The_Dojang] ok I can't keep up To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net So I guess it's a synthesis of Hapkido? Yeah I find some funny stuff and sometimes some really good stuff like the TKD workout utilizing the weighted vest. I really want to find the 5th dan test where they demonstrated knife attack defense and this old man stabbed a guy repeatedly against the wall...lol. Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net what do you do if you enter a tournament that advertises to give away cash prizes to the 1st 2nd and 3rd place winner and certificates to others and they don't give out anything; they leave the building? There was a tournament in NY that did this. Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net What will be with martial arts?? I completely disagree that it is within our grasp to make martial arts what we want it to be.? No one can predict what will draw parents and students or if martial arts will take a huge step backwards.? School systems have not accepted the arts into their curriculum, perception of wrongdoing is definetly present in the minds of many parents and in these difficult financial times...the arts will be the first eliminated from the budgets of families to be followed by Dance lessons.? Should it be tougher...easier? Who knows what will draw students. Tougher for me makes for a few great students and small enrollment.? I've seen schools that are hughly successful but I can't seem to see why. (I'm sure I still have it at home) Looks like he took his HKD background and created a new "art." So it's HKD with a different name and Lee's twists/philosophy on it. I'm not sure how you get "World Peace" out of the characters for Hap, Mu, and Do. But I'm not against the philosophy.
