Therefore, the Nguyens and their partner on the 14-35 Male Team, Jason Hwang, have ceded their spots at the world championships. USA Taekwondo is exploring options for replacement athletes. In addition, Muhammad Chishti (Carlsbad, Calif.) will compete in Johnny Nguyen's spot in the 19-30 Male individual competition. Chishti was runner-up in that division at the trials and is also competing in the 14-35 pairs division. --__--__-- Message: 2 Date: Tue, 21 Oct 2008 18:38:14 -0700 From: The_Dojang To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Subject: [The_Dojang] NK Leader Makes Public Appearance Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net NK Leader Makes Public Appearance: ABC Report The Korea Times 10-21-2008 North Korean leader Kim Jong-il has made his first public appearance in nearly two months, U.S. broadcaster ABC reported Monday. ABC cited analysts who said the appearance is "aimed at quelling speculations about his health," according to Yonhap News. The report, however, did not elaborate on when and where Kim made the appearance. The South Korean government also declined to confirm the report, saying, ``Kim's public activity has not been detected recently.'' Reports have said he suffered a stroke and underwent brain surgery but North Korea denied the reports. In its report, ABC showed footage of Kim entering a room in white attire, but beside him was a man believed to be former North Korean Prime Minister Yon Hyong-muk who died years ago. Kim has been absent from public view since Aug. 14, spawning speculation about his health. North Korea's official Korean Central News Agency released a photo of Kim in early October, saying he visited a female artillery unit to boost the morale of the troops. Skepticism, however, abounded about the authenticity of the photo, which has a background of summer forest when North Korea in October should have fall colors. North Korean media also reported Kim watched a football game a couple of weeks ago without revealing the date or showing any photos or video images of him. North Korean media usually report Kim Jong-il's public appearances belatedly without giving specific dates, Yonhap said. --__--__-- Message: 3 Date: Tue, 21 Oct 2008 21:37:40 -0700 (PDT) From: Jye nigma To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Subject: [The_Dojang] KSW clips Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net You know, out of all the KMA I've seen, I have to say KSW and Hwarang-do are tied for best MA attire in my book! anyhow, some videos   Kuk Sool Won European Championships 2006: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=noFIsm-tMVo   Kuk Sool Won European Championships 2008: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zMqKXYoz8Vw&NR=1   Kuk Sool Won Sword Form: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y3-hkOoqg6w&feature=related   Grandmaster In Sun Seo Ki Strikes: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OnzlLRjDU_U&feature=related     __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Check out this form and explanation. Now I understand what the guy is explaining, but as far as functionality it baffles me. Anyone else understand why they do certain moves? Ok This is how I view forms, I see the performer and imagine opponent's on all sides. So each movement or set of movements involve the performer and attackers. Now I can't understand for instance, in the below clip, what significance the action at 1:53 has in battle? I understand ksw wants their forms to flow like kung fu forms flow, but in kung fu forms every move or show I say action has a purpose in the form and also when extracted from the form. So can a KSW person help a brother to understand the concept behind such movements?   Kyuk Pah Hyung: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DYlitT6PlH0&feature=related   Jye --__--__-- Message: 6 Date: Wed, 22 Oct 2008 15:11:52 -0700 From: The_Dojang To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Subject: [The_Dojang] Rocky Mountain Open Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Rocky Mountain Open Slated for Dec. 6-7 in Colorado Springs The Rocky Mountain Open will take place December 6-7, 2008, at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs.
