Thank you very much to all those who answered. I completely forgot about the KMA FAQ. Mea culpa. Also, is there anyone who could offer the Hangul for not only this command but any others? Once I got familiar with Hangul, the more I came to detest romanization. The whole Bahl, Pahl, Bbahl, etc. conversation is a perfect example. Seeing the Hangul will definitely help with knowing how that consonant is to be pronounced. I'm also working with some of our students on not only speaking but writing Korean. Thanks again everyone! This list is such an awesome resource. *bows* - Bert Edens, II Dan TKD Springdale, Arkansas --__--__-- Message: 3 From: "Bert Edens" To: Date: Mon, 27 Oct 2008 09:37:53 -0500 Subject: [The_Dojang] Re: Korean Terminology Question Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Greetings, all... I forgot to mention the Hangul Master Terry posted didn't come across very well, even though my reader's set to show it. :-( So if possible, something by direct email would be preferred. Here is another resource for Korean terminology. No Han-Gul, though. I have been very fortunate over the years to have learned and been certified under some great Hapkido Masters. The Masters that have influenced me the most over the years have been Master Harold Whalen, Rick Nabors and Doju Nim Ji Han Jae. I have been a very lucky man to have been in the right place at the right time to learn from many legitimate Hapkido players. I am now at a point in my life where I am able to start traveling and spreading the Hapkido I have learned over the years to people who are interested. I am in the process of creating a new Green Dragon Hapkido Group website. I am also in the position of offering Green Dragon Hapkido Group seminars and training sessions for anyone and any art that would like to start studying Hapkido with the Green Dragon Hapkido Group. Let me state that this does not mean that I have “created” any new kind of Hapkido. What I am offering is training in the original Hapkido that was taught to me. I will be offering certification and training through the Green Dragon Hapkido Group organization. This means that other arts and individuals may join and train with us and learn Hapkido the way we practice and teach. I will not be handing out free belts or anything along those lines and I have not become some kind of grand poopah. If people are interested in hosting seminars and learning and teaching good authentic Hapkido I am all for it adn we will offer a reasonable price for those interested. Being a professional educator and coach for over 25 years has helped me in the establishment of a very functional English language version of our Hapkido curriculum. Master Whalen started me on this mission many years ago and I have taken that same concept and applied it to all the Hapkido techniques I have learned over the years. We have developed a very functional and inclusive curriculum that includes the techniques from Sin Moo Hapkido, the original Korea Hapkido Association curriculum, a long with a heavy emphasis on weapon training and ground work. Everyone can learn the techniques and curriculum through all of our Green Dragon Hapkido Group belt sheets and then be tested and certified through the Green Dragon Hapkido Group.
