Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net The other thing to consider is how the joint manipulation techniques are practices. In some styles they are easily identified by hard, linear motion. In the short term this can obviously cause an immediate injury due to the linear/jerky motion, in the long term this kind of stress on the joints is a repetitive injury. In the ki arts, such as hapkido, joint manipulation techniques are practices with smooth and circular motion, but if the speed on the techniques is not controlled (and this takes many years) an injury can easily occur if the quality of the fall is not in par with the speed of the technique. Jere R. Hilland www.rrhapkido.com <<>> PS. Michael. Nice piece on the quality-of-technique = time-in-rank, when it comes to hapkido training. BTW. You also did a great job on answering for me a couple of times. I didn't reply as I had nothing in addition to what you said. I was a little disappointed and surprised when we got the results tonight at class. One of the judges had mentioned during the testing night that he had been watching as we warmed up that I was doing great and he was very impressed with my form etc. I passed but minimally. Would it be wrong or inappropriate to ask my primary instructor what I did incorrectly? Thanks in advance for your advice, Kimberley Warner --__--__-- Message: 4 Date: Tue, 2 Dec 2008 0:38:54 -0500 From: To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Subject: Re: [The_Dojang] testing question Cc: Kimberley Warner Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net How can you improve if you don't know what you need to do to improve? I think most instructors will let you know what you did wrong. lethalmom ---- Kimberley Warner wrote: > I tested last week.
