The book definition as I understand it is; moving meditation or a fighting sequence against one or more imaginary opponents. Gen Choi also instructed all student to understand the reason for every movement. Which can be a challenge in the case of the stamping W-block for instance. All this while bearing in mind the 6 principles of power. However for me I love the meanings behind the patterns and the letters for example that write when doing it. I've been practicing TKD for twenty some years, but my martial arts foundation is Temple Boxing (since 1969 to today). The way we look at forms in TB is VERY different from the way we look at poomse in TKD. Just interested to hear thoughts from dedicated martial artists like those on this forum. Thanks to all in advance!! J. I marvel at the ability that advacned TKD-ers have in poomse,...in fact,...seeing Koryo performed by a 4th Dan inspired me to 'sign up' several years ago. My 2 cents.
