Hey, not to rub it in, but I'm wearing shorts today in Northwest Florida. :) My point was that every art I've ever encountered has "prearranged steps." If you combine "prearranged steps", you have a pattern/form. Hapkido is no different. I opened Dr Kimm's Hapkido book and flipped to a page. Happened to open to page 221. There I see step by step on how to perform Bhang Jok 11 Sool. Even goes into which foot the attacker should have in front and which one the defender should have in front. Reads like a short form/pattern to me. I understand what you're saying about "no forms" in Hapkido, but when you break the technique down to the student, it comes out step 1, step 2, step 3, foot here, foot there, etc. Sincerely, Thomas Gordon Master's Seminars on April 17-19, 2009 www.GordonMartialArts.com/new/2009-0419 --__--__-- Message: 5 From: "Stovall, Craig" To: Date: Mon, 29 Dec 2008 15:01:00 -0600 Subject: [The_Dojang] RE: Hapkido in MMA Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net <<>> Read Darwin. <<>> To hear them tell it. <<>> Probability = nil. <<>> There are a few fighters I can think of who have a background in it in addition to their other experience, but no one has made a splash as of yet with anything called Hapkido or anything that looks like Hapkido. <<>> That was true 5-10 years ago. There are so many MMA gyms now that many of the upcoming fighters start out with MMA itself. Still, BJJ, wrestling, and kickboxing continue to provide feeder material for the MMA grinder. <<>> Yes, but I will wait for the apologists to chime in before I speak the truth according to Stovall.
