My former master had a large gut but I wish I could do poomsae and kicks like he does. I personally am not into the model of Tiger Schulmann where he wants a certain look. I am seeking performance. Speaking of which, I've tried many martial arts. The one art where the instructor looked the worse in my experience was in Jiu Jitsu. That man, 10 years my senior,2 inches shorter, handed me one righteous butt whipping I'll not soon forget. He was extremely fit. The phenomenon here is the "slow gainer". In my other life as a body building trainer, I found some kids that pack on muscle easily ( I assume they don't use steroids). I've found others that train hard, develop strength but don't look like much. I guess it's important to choose your parents carefully. Genetics are genetics. I wonder what gene I lack that let's me get pounded so badly in Jiu Jitsu while I did well in TKD and boxing in college? I added a resolution, I wish to communicate as well and exhibit the Code of Hwa Rang Do/Budo as well as Jye does. I have worked with the least able for my whole life with good result. I choose to work with gifted students in taekwondo as I am interested in raising the bar for physical fitness. For the last time, I am NOT saying that less gifted students shouldn't train. All I am saying is that I choose not to do so. Now it is abundantly true that I miss a few good ones, but I also don't get any that are poor. I am sure no one wants to intentionally misunderstand me. Last, teachers include all students in TKD for many reasons. Many for the noble reasons mentioned here and others because they need to pay their bills. In any case good job my colleagues. Please don't object to the fact that I want my students to be the best. One last comment. One master mentioned that anyone here do do as well as I have. I assume all here could do better!!!!!
