The tentative schedule is as follows: Seminar Schedule: Fri., 2/13/09 10am-7pm (12-1pm, lunch break) Sat., 2/14/09 9am- 6pm (12-1pm, lunch break) Test Schedule: Sun., 2/15/09 9am-1pm In addition, the application deadline has been extended until Monday, January 26, 2009, and the review process of the applications received thus far is ongoing. "Kukkiwon is currently reviewing the applications," said USAT CEO David Askinas. "We believe most of the applications will be approved but with some applications approved at Dan levels lower than those requested. We have been given preliminary information that the major reason some applications will not receive the rank requested is a lack of overall time in martial arts training. They are looking closely at the total number of years each applicant has in taekwondo and martial arts training. We expect to have more definitive information on or about January 20. If a lower Dan rank is approved, funds overpaid will, of course, be refunded to the applicant. My instructors actually taught us usage for the single finger hand weapon which was an attack to the corners of the eyes to injure and pop out the opponent's eyes. As far as the double finger in some snake styles that is the fist they make which can be used for striking, seizing etc. it's too bad that real techniques/tactics with these hand weapons wasn't covered in place of useless stuff like "flying in- flying out" material.   Jye --- On Fri, 1/16/09, daomyer@aol.com wrote: From: daomyer@aol.com Subject: Re: [The_Dojang] Re: KOREA AND TAE KWON DO To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Date: Friday, January 16, 2009, 2:28 PM Jye The single and double finger techniques fell out of fashion after the infamous Curly blocks were developed. The standar straight hand in front of nose Nyuck, Nyuck and the palm slap wooop, wooop woop. Jye Well all kidding aside in my TKD world we did prctice them. The two finger strike came in the form of the more obvious split eye strike. We also practiced a version as a more pointed strike to throat and lower body where we curled bottom two fingers and thumb and left the main two fingers out. Spear hand but more pointy. We also practiced these in sand tubs. I used to be able to break the thin boards this way easily. That is one of the ways one won (one won??) in Taekkyon, as I understand it. In Sung Moo Kwan / Sin Moo Hapkido many of the kicks are very Korean (Taekkyon and Samrangdo Tekki) in nature and not Karate-ish kicks at all. Also I wish these NHB fighters would quit pussy footing around and start allowing the use of knives and guns. Sheesh they are only practicing half the art. ;) Plus a few empty 15 rnd mags in the octagon and you would see what "audience participation" really means. lol **************A Good Credit Score is 700 or Above.
