Founded in 1995, the Korean Studies Institute aims to become a leading center for research and teaching in Korean studies. The Institute is involved in numerous scholarly activities that span both the humanities and the social sciences, and the Korean Heritage Library at USC is widely considered one of the five best Korean academic collections in North America. The academic department with which the fellow affiliates will depend on the fellow’s research and teaching interests, such as the School of International Relations, the department of East Asian Languages and Cultures, or the Political Science department. The fellow will teach one course per semester at USC, have research and office space at the KSI, and be expected to participate in Institute programs relevant to the fellow’s interests. The Fellow must have a Ph.D. in hand, and should be within 5 years of receiving the Ph.D., by the beginning of the appointment. To apply, please send a letter of application, c.v., thesis abstract, two letters of recommendation (to be sent directly by the referees), and a writing sample to David C. Kang, Director, USC-Korean Studies Institute, 809 West 34th Street (AHN 100) University of Southern California, Los Angeles, CA 90089-0142. The deadline for the receipt of all materials is March 20, 2009. Inquiries should be directed to Prof. Kang (david.c.kang@usc.edu).
