These positions are generally of a volunteer nature with honorariums available on certain assignments including but not necessarily limited to teaching Coach Identification and Development Program (CIDP) courses. In order to be considered for the position, coaches must complete the application, which includes an essay, and submit it to the USA Taekwondo National office by Friday, March 20, 2009. Assistant coaches will be responsible for working with the National Team Head Coaches and the USAT High Performance Department to provide technical support, scouting and contribute to the development, training, and preparation of athletes. Assistant coaches will also be responsible for supporting the education and development of coaches within the National Governing Body's membership. Individuals who meet the following criteria for the assistant coach positions are encouraged to apply: * A. Ability and willingness to work within the USA National Team structure and system and abide by the processes as defined by the USAT High Performance Department and the National Team Head Coaches. * B. Recent and proven coaching experience of athletes competing at the junior or world class level in major international competitions. * C. Proven track record of athletes that have progressed and placed on the USA Junior, World University Games, or Senior National Team. * D. Knowledge and understanding of the WTF sparring rules and regulations. * E. Proven knowledge and understanding of technical and tactical components of Taekwondo, including scouting and periodization. * F. Available for the assigned USA National Team program and CIDP schedule that includes camps, seminars, and competitions. Assistant coaches may be requested to make a minimal time commitment of at least two weeks out of the year for travel and meet deadlines for projects that the National Team coaching staff is responsible for. * G. Current and active coach member of USA Taekwondo. * H. If the coach is a Taekwondo club owner, the club must be a current USAT club member with a track record of supporting USAT events and signing up students as USAT members and/or a commitment to do so going forward. * I. Willing to abide by the USAT Code of Conduct and represent the USAT in a positive manner. The individuals who are selected to be on the staff will serve in various capacities as Assistant National Team coaches. They will work under the direction of the National Team Head Coaches and the USAT High Performance Department. The positions will be available until all of the identified needs of the coaching staff have been fulfilled. USA Taekwondo is seeking to fill the following areas related to coaching: Junior National Team Programs - the assistant coaches assigned to this role will be responsible for working with and supporting the Junior National Team at preparation camps and events. Under-24 (U-24) National Team Programs - the assistant coaches assigned to this role will be responsible for working with and supporting the U-24 National Team at preparation camps and events. Senior National Team - the assistant coaches assigned to this role will be responsible for working with and supporting the Senior National Team at training camps, preparation camps and events. International Relations - the assistant coaches assigned to this role will be responsible for helping to keep the USAT High Performance Team up to date on the latest developments at the international level, specifically as it relates to WTF matters. The assistant coaches shall also work to improve relations with other member countries within the WTF to facilitate the establishment of international exchanges and pre-event training camps. Talent Identification - the assistant coaches assigned to this role will be responsible for supporting the National Team Head coaches with the identification of undiscovered talent in the United States. Scouting - the assistant coaches assigned to this role will be responsible for scouting as it relates to all international and National Team events. This includes training and working with Dartfish video analysis and developing the skills necessary to capture and tag live footage. Athlete Development Camps - the assistant coaches assigned to this role will be responsible for supporting the High Performance Team in organizing and coaching USAT Grass Roots Athlete Development Camps. Development Teams - the assistant coaches assigned to this role will be responsible for supporting the High Performance Team organize and administer international trips for developing athletes that have been identified through the domestic events system or the Talent Identification Team. CIDP Content Development - the assistant coaches assigned to this role will be responsible for supporting the development of content and delivery mechanism of the CIDP.
