I must say, after training there for a brief time, I realized that something is definitely wrong there. The black belts seemed "watered down" and you have to pay extra to train with the "Grandmaster". They try to get you to sign a 3 year contract too, at an enormous amount of money. Again, I'm just curious if there are anyone else who has heard anything negative about the franchise itself, and the training you receive there?? I apologize if this sounds like I'm bashing, but I am at a crossroad right now being pressured to sign a 3 year contract, especially for the type of training you receive there. Thank You Gregorio _________________________________________________________________ Lauren found her dream laptop. Looking forward to seeing you in April and then > again for > your August event. Hello Thomas. Sorry for the late answer... I am sure you know that I have been very busy of late, but my apologies just the same my friend. Glad to hear that you plan to be here to celebrate my 60 years in martial arts. I will definitely be in Crestview next April. Over these past many years, I have traveled around the globe in support of anyone who needed it. The fact is that, if political crap is set aside, there is not a single martial artist around who can deny I was not there to support him or her when called upon. Most often, I traveled on my own dime and without charge. In fact, many times, IF there was a charge for my services, I donated the entire proceeds to the host. To be sure, I charged my own students and members to keep food in my fridge, but most often that charge was way below the average seminar cost. Heck, you have told me many times that I charged too little. This is not because I don't know the value of what I do... it is simply that I want to make martial arts available to those who can't afford much. If people set aside the bull*&^^ they hear about me, and look at how I treated them personally, the 2010 celebrations may see a lot of our DD friends gather in Canada next year. Heck, if the Grand Masters and Masters attending just bring a few students each, it will be a sell out. I secured the largest facility in our area for the event, but even that will only hold about 400 people; hence, I have no doubt that it would be prudent of folks to reserve a spot NOW. If only a fraction of the folks whom I have supported over the past sixty years show up, we won't be able to handle them in 2010. To be sure, I have not traveled as much as I would have liked to in the past few years, but this was not due to politics. I simply listened to "Maslow's Hierarchy Of Needs". As I found travel to become harder on this old bod, I began to focus more on making sure that I passed along as much of what I learned in my life time to my students. This prevented me from attending the many functions I would have loved to support. We have a superb group of great martial artists lined up who will present a wide variety of Korean martial art techniques, and I KNOW the party after will be great fun. It is my sincere hope that martial artists will rise above the politics that so often ruin a good thing and come to celebrate with me. Many folks have contacted me via e-mail, and I appreciate this very much. No one except you has made a public comment here though, and that surprises me. It is not everyday that we can celebrate someone practicing 60 years. I wish to thank Ray for allowing me to spread the word on this event, and I hope he can hop on his bike and pedal his way up North next year :) Warmest personal regards Rudy --__--__-- _______________________________________________ The_Dojang mailing list The_Dojang@martialartsresource.net http://martialartsresource.net/mailman/listinfo/the_dojang Subscribe or Unsubscribe: http://the-dojang.net Old digest issues @ ftp://ftp.martialartsresource.com/pub/the_dojang Copyright 1994-2009: Ray Terry and http://MartialArtsResource.com Standard disclaimers apply.
