Likewise, PATU will be using the Lajust system at the Junior Pan Am Championships this November in El Salvador. In order to ensure that our athletes become adept with the Lajust scoring system to perform at their maximum abilities at these major international events, the upcoming U-24 Team Trials on Aug. 21, and the Junior National Team Trials/Fight Off on Aug. 22-23, will be using the Lajust electronic scoring system. Electronic hogus will be provided by USAT and Lajust for use at these events. The use of Lajust sensor socks will be required. For those who have not yet purchased the Lajust system sensor socks, they will be available for purchase at the event for $40. These socks can be used at all future events where the Lajust system is utilized. --__--__-- Message: 8 From: Ray To: The_Dojang Date: Fri, 31 Jul 2009 21:33:23 -0700 Subject: [The_Dojang] 3rd Referee Development Camp Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net 3rd Referee Development Camp on Thursday, August 27 at 6:00pm. Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Greetings All, This question was posed in another group and nobody seemed to have an answer. Hey, I didn't know either...but it sparked my curiosity. I checked my reference material and found lots of stuff on width of belts, width of stripes, and color schemes, but nothing on why it is a double wrap. So, I think it might have something to do with carry-over from the belt length required to support/hold a sword. I know that kimono obi are fairly long, and that hakama belts are also long and a thin single wrap could not support both the closure of the garment and the weight of a sword...so the inner wrap holds the garment and outer holds the weapon...? Another thought is that of the circular nature of eastern philosophy...similar to the changhun tkd 24 patterns representing 24 hours a day, or your whole life....full circle...but only one circle. So what about double wraps? Then I thought of the cycle of white to black (one circle) then black to tattered white (2nd circle). Thoughts???? I'm interested to hear what you have to say and any references that go with it...because my conclusions are based solely on wild supposition and misguided conjecture!!!!!!
