I just want to say I am privileged and honored to train with Master Doug Cook in Warwick NY.. I began my taekwondo training back as a young punk in 1991.. After a long hiatus from the art, discovering parties, getting a part time job to help out with the bills for my mom and other high school adventures, I found my way back into the art in November of 2004, where I started as a white belt again.. During my journey this time around, I got married, and had 3 kids.. Nevertheless, I had to move further away from my old dojang to find a bigger home for the bigger family, and low and behold, I moved into an area where Master Doug Cook is teaching at Chosun Taekwondo Academy.. To me, it felt like it was meant to be, and I found the final piece to my martial arts puzzle I was missing.. I love training here, and training in traditional taekwondo is everything I could have imagined, and then some.. My previous school was more focused on the Olympic sparring aspect, which I must say the speed and agility I acquired from this helps me immensely in my daily training. Here at Chosun, I get the all around training I have been desiring. My apologies for this long dragged out email, but I just wanted to say that it is possible to find complete happiness with a martial arts school... Thank you for listening! Kamsahamnida!!!!! The kid was behind him shoving him, and my son knocked his block off before I could get out the door. Now I've been training my son in very basic self defense, but I think I'm going to teach him more advanced things. The reason is because there was an incident where 3 kids jumped 2 filipino kids. One of the filipino kids got kicked in the head, stomped, and then jump stomped in the head; he was beaten so bad his mother took him out of school and moved back to the philipines. So the way I was taught is if someone is talking let them talk but if they put their hands on you then you break their neck, and that's what I'm passing onto my son. But I was wondering what if my son is attacked and throws or does a take down and say the attacker is severly injured, who's at fault from a legal standpoint?   Jye --__--__-- Message: 10 From: Bert Edens To: "the_dojang@martialartsresource.net" Date: Fri, 7 Aug 2009 09:32:59 -0500 Subject: [The_Dojang] re: Looking for feedback... But I could have swore there were other instances in the past where other cultures attempted to adopt Han'gu(l / Choso(n'gu(l as their written language only to have it be rejected, no? I don't recall as it has been a long time since I read Kim-Renaud, Y-K. (ed) 1997. The Korean Alphabet: Its History and Structure. Anyway, this is a very interesting language development that *gasp* for once doesn't involve romanizations. I wonder what the fit will be like or if their language, like modern South Korean will be filled with lots of "eu" and such to try to account for combinations and phonemes not availble in Han'gu(l. I think of what happens with such loans words such as stress ???? which is hard to spell and sounds bad. I am quite curious to know what their language sounds like and how this will work. cheers, kevin --__--__-- Message: 13 From: Martial Arts Account To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Subject: Re: [The_Dojang] UMAC united martial arts centers Date: Wed, 12 Aug 2009 22:17:54 -0400 Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net It is foolish imo to sign a contract for a service that you aren't sure that you want or need. A paid trial period ( introductory offer) is a reasonable. Ask if they have one. A mandatory 3 yr contract is a scam. I am skeptical if this is a legitimate request though. I googled UMAC because I have one in my area ( Universal rather than United) but it seems that you may have already signed a contract http://www.complaintsboard.com/complaints/united-martial-arts-centers-umac--c 230899.html - Gregorio isn't a common name. So this seems to be an attempt at bashing them after the fact. IF you already got burnt call a lawyer. Most contracts have some sort of "out."
