A Different World (Wood, Robert L Civ USAF AMC 43 SFS/S5B) --__--__-- Message: 1 Date: Sat, 7 Nov 2009 07:44:49 -0600 From: "Wood, Robert L Civ USAF AMC 43 SFS/S5B" To: Subject: [The_Dojang] A Different World Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Having moved through the area at Ft Hood that would be under attack within minutes, Mr. McDee of Killeen, Texas writes "This is not the same world I grew up in." If I understand the DD post correctly Mr. McDee was also at that Pentagon on 11 September 2001. I agree sir, this is not he world we grew up in, however if we allow those who use terror to control our live thorough fear then they have won. The media will begin to focus on how the Army failed to indentify the shooter as dangerous, how the shooter was "victimized" through "harassment", how the shooter "suffered" and was "traumatized" because of his exposure to returning soldiers from the War on Terror. And to that I say MONKEY FEATHERS! Anyone who walks into a room/building and opens fire on unarmed individuals is a terrorist. I do not care if they claim to act on behalf of Christianity, Islam, Jedi, or as Disciples of the Great and Powerful Oz! As martial artist we train to attain skills we hope never to need to use in defense of others or self, however we must be ready to act (that is the MARTIAL part of martial arts). The Department of the Army Civilian Police (DACP) Officer who stopped the terrorist and the soldiers and civilians who rendered combat life saving techniques and/or first aid to the injured, reacted as martial artists and I salute them. Mr. McDee it is not the same world, but it does not need to a world devoid of courage, honor, respect, or hope. With Respect, TSgt Robert L. Wood (retired), USAF Security Police. --__--__-- _______________________________________________ The_Dojang mailing list The_Dojang@martialartsresource.net http://martialartsresource.net/mailman/listinfo/the_dojang Subscribe or Unsubscribe: http://the-dojang.net Old digest issues @ ftp://ftp.martialartsresource.com/pub/the_dojang Copyright 1994-2009: Ray Terry and http://MartialArtsResource.com Standard disclaimers apply.
