Jab, Cross, Hook (Brooke Thomas) --__--__-- Message: 1 Date: Fri, 4 Dec 2009 22:37:17 -0800 (PST) From: Brooke Thomas To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Subject: [The_Dojang] Jab, Cross, Hook Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Quick personal observation for the list. In my martial arts training, I was taught the hook from the lead hand as a bent arm punch...and I was always fairly close to my opponent when I threw it. I am adding in some formal boxing training now, and I am being taught to leave the arm almost straight with the wrist & fist bent towards the target and I leave more distance away from my opponent. I will say, that when I rotate my body over and hit the focus mitts with that "boxing" hook, it pops like my "martial Art" hook never has. I guess I have another tool for my toolbox as different situations arise but it was enlightening for me to feel that power. Just an observation from training. -Brooke Thomas --__--__-- _______________________________________________ The_Dojang mailing list The_Dojang@martialartsresource.net http://martialartsresource.net/mailman/listinfo/the_dojang Subscribe or Unsubscribe: http://the-dojang.net Old digest issues @ ftp://ftp.martialartsresource.com/pub/the_dojang Copyright 1994-2009: Ray Terry and http://MartialArtsResource.com Standard disclaimers apply.
